Why Monetizing Your Blog Isn’t Selfish

Provided you have been blogging for quite a while now (or you are good with the internet), you must be knowing that blogs could be monetized.

What does monetize mean?

  • Monetize is to earn revenue. This can be done from an asset, a business etc.
  • Some very common things which are monetized are videos (in youtube for example), websites (blogs for example) and apps.

How do people monetize things?

  • This can be done through ads (google adsense), affiliate marketing, paid reviews or banner ads, providing a service, through eBooks, etc.

Why do people monetize?

  • To earn money (duh!). Money has become almost essential to live nowadays. People need to earn money. They do it by various ways, so why not do it online?

Can you depend on monetizing as a passive method of income?

  • In the beginning, nope I don’t think  so.
  • Later on? Maybe. Depending on how much of hard work you put into it.

The question which had been bothering me for a day or so,

“Is monetizing your blog selfish?”

Here’s reasons why monetizing your blog isn’t selfish,

  1. You aren’t going to earn money from nothing – The basic requirement for monetizing your blog is a  vanity/custom domain, which you have to pay for monthly. The more you earn, the more you pay for your custom domain because you’ll require a bigger domain package. You can’t monetize your blog using a free domain name.
  2. You put in your time and sweat into it – To run a blog successfully isn’t an easy task (you should be able to relate to this). It takes time, hard work and a bit of luck. This can vary from blogger to blogger. Some might take more time (or less) than others to create a successful blog, depending on how hard they work.
  3. You don’t earn money overnight – Earning a passive income through blogging which could be enough for you to quit your day job and stay at home to be a full time blogger takes time. Period. (Unless you hit the blogging lottery.) This takes years of hard work, in average about 5 to 6 years. Some bloggers might still not be able to reach their target and end up quitting blogging entirely.
  4. You might not even earn enough money to compensate the amount you paid for your vanity domain (in the beginning) – This sucks. It’s even a risk in a way, unless you have enough money to spend on a vanity domain per month.
  5. It’s an emotional roller coaster – This could be either positively or negatively. You’ll have your good days, your bad days, your stressed days, your frustrated days, your happy days, etc. It’s almost like a journey of self discovery. Very exciting!

My advice to bloggers who want to try it out?

If writing is your passion, go for it! You only live once. Don’t do it only with the intention of earning money.

If you are thinking about it and want some friendly advice or help, you are more than welcome to ask for it.

Bloggers who still think it’s selfish?

Feel free to comment why you think so. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions and views, which everyone else should learn to respect.

You don’t think it’s selfish, but you aren’t going to do it anyway?

Cool! If you are kind, be patient with ads of bloggers who are trying it out. If you are extra kind, help out your fellow bloggers who are trying it out by clicking on an ad or two.
Cheers and Happy Blogging!

Geography Class For Racists

Are you up-to date with the things going viral in the internet? If you aren’t, you are in the right place. πŸ˜‚

Watch as YouTube personality Lilly Singh aka ‘Superwoman’, expresses her opinion on “racist idiots who don’t deserve an internet connection”.

Yup, that’s right! That’s exactly what she says. But wait, that’s not it. πŸ˜‰

She also adds,

Here’s the thing right? I don’t like when people are bad at things. If you are gonna be racist, at-least do it right.

She continues reading a comment on her youtube video,

Go bak to ur country, you terrorist paki afghan indian muslim slut #MakeAmericGreatAgain

Go ahead and watch Lilly #MakeEducationGreatAgain with her hilarious video.

Question Of The Week – Q2

Do you have any regrets in life? If so, what is your biggest regret (only if you don’t mind sharing)?

My answer to last week’s question

I found it very difficult to decide between two memories.

  • When I was around 10 to 12 years old, I used to go to my mum’s best friend’s house which had a large mango tree on the front yard. Me and the two kids in the picture (mum’s best friend’s kids) used to try build a tree-house on the mango tree almost everytime I went there. It wasn’t always a success but one day it came out really well. Sadly, they don’t live there anymore, so I don’t get to visit the house. πŸ™
I’m the kid wearing the blue skirt. πŸ˜‡
  • The day my sister was born. I was the only child for 6 years, and it was such an exciting thing for me to have a baby sister. I remember waiting outside the hospital ward until the visiting hours came and I rushed to my mother’s side to say hello to my baby (yup, she was also my baby). 😊

With Love.

Quick Question

Good-morning guys!

What exactly is the difference between views and visitors to your blog? I need a bit help with this one.

Also, if you don’t mind, please add the ‘Press This’ button to your blog incase I (or anyone else) wants to reblog your posts. I’m sure you like reblogs too, so please go ahead and do it. I’ve been trying to reblog posts, but most of your blogs don’t have that button. Check how to add the ‘Press This’ button here.

Hope you having a wonderful day! (If you aren’t, go take control of your day and make it wonderful!)

Question Of The Week – Q1

Ciao readers! πŸ˜‡

It’s a new day, in a new month. So I came up with something refreshing. I decided that every Thursday I’ll be posting a question in my blog, under the sub category ‘Question Of The Week’.

This question could be a personal question, a brain teaser, reflections of life, personality check, philosophical or even completely silly, twisted and random.

It’s upto you to answer the question or not, down in the comments. This way we could interact and get to know each other better. You have the entire week to answer this question. 😝

Oh! And you may wonder, my answer to the question? (Because it is about getting to know each other yeah?)

The following week when I post a new question, along with that I’ll post my answer to the last week’s question.

This way, you would have to be in touch, for this to work. I think this will be fun! Let’s give it a shot shall we? πŸ€—

Read the answers of your fellow bloggers, reply something to them if you want to or feel like it by all means, just communicate, make friends and have fun!

With Love. ❀️

P.S. – I’ll start with a really easy and sweet question, to get you going.

Question – What is your favourite childhood memory? πŸ€–πŸ€‘πŸ‘Ύ

What A Woman Wants From Her Man

So I’ve been thinking about how serious my posts have been lately, and I figured I’m going to write something real smooth this time. Wait wait. My article hasn’t started yet.

1..

Hola Gentleman (and ladies) !

Women.

Describe women with one word. What’s the first word that crosses your mind?

Come on. Think about it just for a second will ya?

  • If you are a regular man this is probably what you were thinking, “Complicated”.
  • If you are an irregular (πŸ˜‚) man these are what you would have come up with, “Feisty, Sensitive, Bossy, Hormonal, Pushy, Clingy, High-maintenance πŸ˜’” and a hundred more along those lines.
  • If you are a lazy man, “Is there even one word you can describe them with?”
  • If you are a hopeless romantic, “Loving, Caring, Sweet, Kind, Adorable, Charming, Admirable, Supportive, Exquisite”. (Yes, I can go on and on cuz I’ve got a million nice ways to describe myself. πŸ˜‰)

Take a look at that list of words. Oh my! I think due to the excessive ways of describing a woman, the best would be ‘Complicated’. *Round of applause for all the regular men out there*

The only things a woman really needs are food, water and shelter. However because women are so complicated they ‘want’ a lot of things from their man (other than love, respect and support of-course). I’m going to help you poor clueless souls just a little bit. Thank me later.

Let’s start with the most serious stuff. Take this list very seriously.

  1. Make her feel safe – She really does feel like the safest place in the world is in your arms. Hug her. Ask her to close her eyes. Whisper something in her ear, something comforting, something she’ll like to hear (mean what you say – she’ll know if you don’t). She’ll start listening to your heartbeat and she’ll feel safe immediately. Yes, it’s that easy. Why is it that you still figure out a way to make her feel not safe?
  2. Be honest –Β Don’t lie to her. Lying is the easiest way to create some tension between the two of you. This doesn’t mean you have to be brutally honest. For instance, if she’s having a bad day and she looks terrible and she asks you “Do I look bad?” , she’s asking that not for you to tell her, “Yes, you do”. She already knows that.
  3. Acknowledge her – Show her how important she is to you. (She wants to be one of the most important people in your life – the most important in fact.)Β Trust her completely. Appreciate everything she does. See her as an equal in everything (you could even see her a little bit higher than that, she’ll love it). Have your eyes only on her. She knows she’s not the most beautiful woman in the world, she’s not stupid. However, she does want to be the most beautiful woman in the world in your eyes.

This list you could take slightly less seriously (at your own expense),

  1. Be a good laugh.
  2. Surprise her from time to time.
  3. Say ‘I love you’ whenever you feel it.
  4. Don’t be too insecure.
  5. Give her any space she needs.
  6. Tell her she’s beautiful.
  7. Never forget her birthday (including her parents, her siblings) and anniversaries.
  8. Respect her privacy.
  9. Be protective of her.
  10. Make an effort with her friends. (Don’t you dare interpret this wrongly.)
  11. Laugh at her jokes (even if they aren’t all so funny).
  12. Like her cooking better than your mums (or pretend, if it’s that bad).
  13. Be happy for her to spend time with her girlfriends.
  14. Don’t wait for her to apologize after an argument.
  15. Love her mum almost as much as she does.

Here’s a funny list of ‘things your woman wants from you’ I found on the internet. 😁

With Love.

Make Your Blog Matter

Attention new bloggers! πŸ‘₯

Most of you by now may have read a number of blogs about blogging. Why do I know that? I’ve been reading some as well. The first blog which popped up to my ‘reader’ was about blogging. And of course most of you might have googled ‘how to make your blog interesting’ just as I have.

With an understanding that you and I both know all them tips by heart, I’ll just make my message very short. Oh wait! Now that I think about it, there may be people who aren’t familiar with these tips, so I’ll help them out just a bit. Bear with me, the all knowing.

  1. Be genuine.
  2. Determine the purpose of your blog, and stick with it.
  3. Don’t be boring, make sure your blog has great content.
  4. Post regularly.
  5. Mix it up a bit. Try out a new type of content every month.
  6. Neither too short, nor too long – Make it just right.
  7. Post on weekdays, your readers are less likely to be online on weekends. πŸ˜‰ (That’s a neat trick.)
  8. Make sure your content is SEO-friendly. Beginner’s Guide to SEO
  9. Use social media.
  10. Make your blog visually interesting.
  11. Don’t worry about the numbers. It’s always better to have followers (even a few) who are very keen about your blog.
  12. Be part of the blogging world.

That’s pretty much it.

Is it though?

Nah uh. It isn’t.

Behold.. The greatest tip of all time! (It’s not as great as I make it seem but here goes..)

ENJOY YOURSELF! Period! Enjoy writing! Enjoy sharing your thoughts! Heck, even enjoy pressing that ‘publish’ button. Just enjoy everything about it! Why is this so important? Because, at the end of a long tiring day, that’s what you’ll get back from blogging. Happiness. Pure joy.

I do understand how important it is that you make your blog matter to your readers. But it’s your blog, make it matter to you first! Then you can worry about the others.

Happy joyous blogging! πŸ˜‡

With Love.
