Comment on Differently Abled Given Love, Support And Employment by Laura (There Is Light In The Dark).
I love this! I’m with you on people’s perceptions of those with down syndrome and other differences: They’re not dis-abled; they can do things just like anyone else. I love seeing opportunities being extended to those with differences! One of my former co-workers has a son with fairly severe autism and he attends a special school that won’t give him a proper diploma upon high school graduation. This will make college and many jobs unreachable and will limit his opportunities as an adult. So I think it’s great to see businesses offer jobs to those who are differently abled. We as a society need to focus more on helping and empowering them.
